There's been some discussion whether or not the Far Western District and Rocky Mountain District should webcast their preliminary convention on March 20-22. The fear from the District's organizers is that people may decide to stay home versus attend the convention which will be held this year in Las Vegas, NV.
While the state of our economy is affecting how and what we spend our money on, it's the opinion of YouBarbershop that a webcast of the convention will not only help the District's financial pocketbooks, but offer a great example of barbershop singing for viewers all around the globe who won't have the ability to attend one of the best District Competitions in our Society.
A webcast of the convention doesn't come free. There are costs and preparation involved. However, judging from past experiences with the Evergreen District's webcast successes and the most recent Sound of the Rockies show (Read the review) which was broadcast over the weekend, YouBarbershop promises to buy the first ticket sold if the District's decide to webcast.
To the FWD/RMD, take the leap of faith and webcast your convention. Your competition is the next best thing to the International Convention, and we all want to see it!
Do it. Do it now!
